WE WON RED BULL CREATION! National Design and Engineering Competition
In July of 2011 we competed in the first ever Red Bull Creation competition under the team name '1.21 Jigawatts'. The event was held in Brooklyn and pitted 16 teams of makers against each other in a no-holds barred,72-hour build-a-thon. The goal of the competition was to build a contraption that could transport the weight of a human without using fossil fuels. Our team designed and built an 8-foot tall, human-powered hamster wheel that could print one-word text messages on the ground in spray paint. The creations were showcased to an audience of 5,000 people in McCarren Park and voted on by a panel of high profile judges. We are happy to announce that we took home the gold with a unanimous decision.
